My current challenges as a business owner coming out of covid are strategically planning for growth of the business, coming up with an effective and sustainable marketing strategy rather than just throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks. I also would like a way to effectively track financials in a way to know the health of my business financially. I'd love to be able to hire and train an assistant, but I don't even know if that's something that is feasible or what things would need to look like to get to that point.
Actions I’ve taken so far
I worked on a bit of a business plan with a SBDC advisor, but we didn't get to really work on projecting out financials. I have hired employees over the last year to offset my needing to teach all of the classes and focus more on the strategic aspects. I revamped my website and switched to membership forward facing model.
My future goals
I would like to feel like I have a better handle on where the business is going and how to grow it and also a more sustainable marketing plan / funnel to help draw in new clients. I feel like if I have these things in place then I'll be better able to expand my offerings.
My motivations to work with a mentor
I am really good at the work that I do, but the business side has been a lot of just trial and error and me working things out for myself, so working with a mentor, someone more established in the business world seems like a good way to level up my skill set on that side of things.
