How I can help

My professional background

Cameron Law is a Sacramento native who brings his passion for Sacramento as well as his experience in social ventures, venture capital, and management consulting to the Carlsen Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, as the Executive Director. He is an active ecosystem-builder and is working through the Carlsen Center to make the Greater Sacramento region a premier hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Prior to leading the Carlsen Center he served as the Executive Director of Social Venture Partners of Sacramento where he leveraged leaders in business, education, and the arts to create sustainable and scalable impact by reinventing philanthropy. He was responsible for strategic planning, fundraising, building collaborative efforts, and innovating the nonprofit sector.

In addition to his work at the university, Cameron is highly active in the innovation and entrepreneurs ecosystem where he is the coordinator of the iHub network, an organizer for a community economic development program, 1 Million Cups, where he works to empower and elevate Sacramento entrepreneurs growing a supportive ecosystem for innovation. Most recently he was selected to serve as the Sacramento organizer for Global Entrepreneurship Week by leadership at the Global Entrepreneurship Network. He serves on the leadership team of FourthWave.io, which is an accelerator for women-led tech businesses.

Cameron also is civically engaged as he serves on the City of Sacramento’s Inclusive Economic and Community Development Investment Committee as well as the nonprofit boards of Square Root Academy, Neighborhood Wellness Foundation, Culture LabX, and the Northern California World Trade Center.

Cameron has a Master of Business in both Social Impact & Sustainability and International Business from The University of Queensland, Australia as well as a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics from UC Davis. He was selected in 2019 as a Sacramento Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree. He seeks to use his global perspective and passion for supporting entrepreneurs to build a thriving community and create a lasting impact.

My expectation is to value time across both mentor and mentee relationship. Execution is a key to a successful relationship.

How entrepreneurs can prepare before we start

They should be prepared to view their business through a problem lens and explore tools such as lean canvas, value proposition canvas, and as-is canvas.
