My expectations for a successful mentoring relationship
The successful mentoring relationship is based on a shared commitment to respect each others time and to be open to listen and to share. Both parties need to show up on time when scheduled, and show up prepared for the conversation. This may include some advance preparation individually. The ability and willingness to listen openly and think outside your comfort zone is also important. The mentoring relationship is intended to be collaborative and supportive.
How entrepreneurs can prepare before we start
The entrepreneur should be prepared with a clear mission statement - What do they want to get out of the mentoring relationship? They should also be prepared to be open and transparent about their current state and the vision for thier business. They can share business plans or other documents to help me understand their business.
