My professional background
Over 25 years I have held a variety of small business related positions including: - Sr Commercial Loan Officer - Small Business Administration Loan Specialist - Owner of three start-ups, all of which focused on small business services including Growth Consulting, Turnarounds, Valuations and Financing After retiring, I spent 5 years as a Mentor under SCORE, a goverment sponsored consulting service to aspiring entrepreneurs and another 4 years (to present) as a Mentor in EforAll (Entreprenurship for All) a non-profit assisting local start-ups with formulating their business model, comprehensive training and one year of continuing coaching by a 3 member group of Mentors until the business is up and running.
How to work with me
What I can offer
I believe the key to a successful business begins with a comprehensive business model, one that can demonstrate unique and real value to the prospective target market. This is follwed by the creation and ultimate implementation of the proper strategies to launch the business. These are two key strengths of my background and I look forward to assisting you in your new venture.
My expectations for a successful mentoring relationship
I expect my mentees to be ready for a lot of work. This is one of the most trying endeavors they will attempt in their life and also the most satisfying. There will be lots of bumps up front but persistance will ultimately see you through.
How entrepreneurs can prepare before we start
I prefer that my mentees have something more than a good idea. A good business idea, it should answer the following 2 questions: Do I have a unique value proposition i.e. something that differentiates my business from the rest Is there an ample market segment that will perceive my offering as more valuable than the alternative(s)?
