Dori, hi. It is up to you, but it is highly recommended to also use rrss for networking purposes, which you should include in your marketing plan.

Thanks for the response Miguel! I apologize, I really don't know much about social marketing. It is one of the things on my list for mentorship needs. I don't know what an rrss is? Would you be willing to connect to explain it to me? Thanks for your help! Dori

Dori hi. Sorry, I said rrss instead of "social media". Really rrss is the same but in Spanish. Sometimes this confusion happens (-: Well, returning to networking via internet for marketing purposes, you need to learn about Social Network / Media Marketing. Using its techniques, with strategy and creativity, you will be able to communicate with your potential and current customers to build your biz image (brand), promote your products and services, expand sales, drive and improve website traffic, and so on. Please read the content of this link and you will be in a better position to optimize your business activity in social media: https://www.thebalancesmb.com/social-media-marketing-definition-2948527 . I wish you the best.

Hey Dori, interesting question. Honestly, if it was a few months or years ago I would have given a different answer, but today I will tell you - businesses have started believing in living together in an ecosystem, so building a community and being friendly with other similar ventures in your industry is a good idea. Last year we saw several examples where even directly rival brands came together to help during the pandemic - so the business landscape mindset is changing. Coming to your question, my above explanation states that you can start following your industry-relevant company pages, industry-related news pages, and even complementary pages. I would suggest, don't go aggressive and start following every page on the same day. Gradually start following, and remember your motive is not just to follow but build up a conversation and be a part of the ecosystem, so you can even opt for contacting those ventures through social media and see if you can run some campaigns together or build conversations on social media together.

Finally, it is totally up to you how you would like to go about it, but it is always best to follow each other, engage in each other's posts, discuss and build conversations on social media as a business. :) I hope you got your answer (even though it's long.)

Hi,

I'd suggest to follow, taking and giving inspiration, sharing success stories, rising together are all apart of the business experience.

It may feel like you are in an uberly competitive industry, but you'd be surprised how many owners will not only empathize but help when reached out. overall, id suggest being in the ecosystem instead of being on your own.

Building your network is essential. I truly believe in this social networking age that connecting on multiple social platforms is good. While connections are good, it is also important to deepen that connection with a few key players that can help grow your businesses substantially. These should become lasting partnerships.

Yes, absolutely. It's always good to build relationships with companies that serve your own company's needs in some way or that you serve. That network will grow and develop over time and can serve you well. It can evolve into something like "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine," with the sharing of contacts or highlighting your business on their own sites. You should do the same!
